In previous years a social gathering, such as a 4th of July party, would have sent her to the isolation of the basement with her large stack of books and a Nintendo. At this years gathering, I sat across the lawn and watched her observing people, one might say she was almost completely in tune with the social game that was being displayed. She was gathering information. Visually gathering and collecting skills.
She spoke when spoken to. She responded to questions. And did so appropriately. She stood next to me. She rested her hand on my shoulder. She engaged in conversation. She became part of the party.
I am so grateful she has found information and opportunity to learn by watching others. Offers far more than an isolated room with a book.
Yea for my girl!
